The 500th Bomb Squadron Association

BRIEF HISTORY OF THE
500TH BOMB SQUADRON ASSOCIATION

The 500th Bomb Squadron Association was organized in September, 1979. It was organized by a handful of original members of our namesake 500th Bomb Squadron, while attending a reunion of the parent 345th Bomb Group (Medium) in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Since that time, the Association's mission has been, and continues to be, to:

perpetuate the history, legends and memories of the 500th Bomb Squadron.
encourage and facilitate camaraderie among Association members and their families, and
provide useful services for and protect the interests of those members, their dependents and their survivors.

The Association's original Constitution & Bylaws were approved by the membership on 1 March, 1982. In an effort to make them more responsive to the Association's mission, the Bylaws have since been updated and approved as follows:

on 8 September, 1993 by the members present at the Association's seventh reunion in Atlanta, Georgia.
on 12 September, 1999 by the members present at the Association's tenth reunion in Denver, Colorado.
on 30 August, 2001 by the members present at the Association's eleventh reunion in Savannah, Georgia.
on 1 September, 2003 by the members present at the Association's twelfth reunion in Reno, Nevada.

The Association is a non-profit organization, that was granted tax-exempt status on 24 March, 1982 under Section 501 (c)(19) of the Internal Revenue Code.
